The purpose of this handbook is:

  • To assist companies to understand how the Department will undertake the verification process for the EEO program;
  • To guide companies through steps they need to take when contributing to and participating in verification. This includes preparing for and contributing to the verification process, organising and conducting the site visit, and providing input and support to the verification report prepared by the Department;
  • Outline the timeline for completion of verification activities (Appendix 1).

While this handbook is intended to provide guidance to companies in relation to the verification activities that will be undertaken as part of the EEO program, it should not be taken to be a conclusive description of their obligations under the EEO legislation. Companies are encouraged to obtain their own independent legal advice in this regard.
